Intended Use
ArmeoSenso is a medical device intended for patients with impaired function of the upper extremity due to e.g. a neurological condition (Stroke, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, Guillain-Barré syndrome), trauma (peripheral nervous system damage, fractures), musculoskeletal disorders (instability, pain, orthopedic surgery) or age-related disorders.
This allows the patient to train specific exercises in order to increase, for example, muscle strength and range of motion in different joints, with the overall goal of improving functional abilities. Furthermore, ArmeoSenso can assist in evaluating changes in functional abilities.
Indications
Taking into account the contraindications and every patient’s individual profile, the ArmeoSenso is used in case of:
- Impaired function of the upper extremity due to neurological (e.g. stroke, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, recovery from neurosurgical interventions, Parkinson’s diseases, Guillain Barré Syndrome, plexus paralysis) or muscular disorders (e.g. muscular dystrophies) in patients who are able to self-initiate movement.
- Impaired function of the upper extremity due to musculoskeletal or age-related disorders (e.g. endoprosthesis, fractures, recovery from surgical interventions) in patients who are able to self-initiate movement.
There are no age or height restrictions; as long as the sensors are not touching each other and the understanding of the exercises is given, training may continue.
For contraindications and risk factors, please see legal notes.
