Between the 27th – 30th January, Hocoma and sister company Motek attended Arab Health 2020, hosted at the Dubai International Exhibition Center. The exhibition served as an important bridge to open communication in the United Emirates. We were delighted to share our solutions for neurorehabilitation and functional movement therapy with colleagues and professionals from all over the world during the exhibition.
Robotic Rehabilitation at the Arab Health Exhibition 2020
Arab Health is the region’s largest medical conference, giving Hocoma and Motek the opportunity to engage with 106,000 local and international visitors. It is a significant exhibition for both companies due to the healthcare sector in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) currently in a significant growth phase. A recent report by Fitch Solutions suggests that the MENA region’s healthcare market is projected to grow 58.1 billion (USD) by 2023, most likely due to increasing urbanisation, ageing demographics and rising burden of chronic diseases. Because of this, Hocoma is confident that our devices could provide real value and support for patients and therapists throughout the Middle East.
At our exhibition booth, we showcased our advanced solutions for robotic rehabilitation with our C-Mill VR+ device for comprehensive gait assessment and therapy. The C-Mill device offers motivational gait and balance training to maximises performance for a wide target group of patients and we even held a C-Mill competition with our visitors to win a Motek football.
Providing demos of the C-Mill VR+ gave us the opportunity to stress the importance of starting rehabilitation as early as possible to maximise therapy outcomes. Creating treadmill training that simulates challenges in everyday life, using augmented and virtual reality, has many advantages. With its functional, safe, and challenging yet fun VR applications, the C-Mill offers an enjoyable and engaging therapy to helps the therapist encourage patients to exercise.
During the event, we also hosted Lounge talks from our experts to showcase the Hocoma and Motek portfolios; sharing our visions and ideas with visitors on both upper and lower limb rehabilitation. However, the standout event of the exhibition was marked by the signing of a new agreement with Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, to become our first and only reference clinic for robotic rehabilitation in the Middle East.
A memorandum of understanding was signed during the exhibition in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah Al Hamid, Head of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, and His Excellency Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Head of Abu Dhabi Community Development Department. The memorandum was signed on behalf of Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination by His Excellency Abdullah Abdul Ali Al Humaidan, Secretary General of the Organization, and on behalf of the DIH by Dr. Patrick Bruno, Executive Board Member.
Along with our local partner Al Zahrawi Medical, this agreement will ensure the successful implementation of Hocoma solutions to improve patients’ lives using advanced rehabilitation technology and robotics for paediatric treatment.
Arab Health Exhibition 2020 was a great success for Hocoma, with many great connections made during the event. We’re already looking forward to next year’s edition at the Dubai World Trade Centre in 2021 – See you there!
