Erigo® Therapy

The latest findings in neuroscience indicate that neurological patients should be mobilized as soon as possible after stroke, traumatic brain injury, and paraplegia. Mobilization refers to stabilizing the patient's blood circulation through physiotherapy (exercises of the upper and lower extremities that practice the whole range of movement) and tilt-table training so that he or she can already sit in a wheelchair or even stand unassisted. The Erigo combines three standard therapies – verticalization, movement, and weight-bearing – in one piece of therapeutic equipment. Firstly, the patient is verticalized. At the same time, his or her legs are moved throughout their whole range of movement, and weight is dynamically applied and lifted. This allows the patient to carry out an intensive training session during the initial stages of the rehabilitation program.
"Experience at our institution suggests this system may alter the way in which patients are treated in intensive care units, as well as enhance early and intensive rehabilitation protocols that ideally would begin as soon as the patient is stabilized".
